Synchronizing
Oracle Identity Management and configuring Oracle Identity
Management Provisioning Service
First, make a note to the following important terms:
- Connectors: A connector is a prepackaged connectivity
solution that exchanges data between the OID server and the
connected directory in a synchronization environment. Connectors
exchange data in a format that is understandable by both the
directories.
- Synchronization profiles: A synchronization profile
contains information about the type of interface to be used for
synchronization of data between OID and connected directory.
- Synchronization Agent: It is a special program that
synchronizes data between the OID server and other servers with
different storage formats.
Mapping Rules
Mapping rules govern the conversion of attributes between a
connected directory and the OID server. Mapping rules ensure that
attributes mean the same when data is synchronized. The attributes
between a connected directory and the OID server are converted by
using mapping rules.
The following are two types of mapping rules:
- domain-level mapping rule
- Attribute-level mapping rule
The following are steps when involved in provisioning procedure:
- Create users in the central directory of the OID server.
- Enroll the users to the application:
o Automatic enrollment
o Manual enrollment
- Synchronize the user account and entitlements with the OID server.
